United Arab Emirates, Dubai, May 28, 2013: The Dubai Health Authority recently became the first health entity in the UAE and the second governmental organization in Dubai to receive the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 certification.
ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 is a service management system (SMS) standard. It specifies requirements for the service provider to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and improve the service management system. The requirements include the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services to fulfill agreed service requirements.
DHA received this certification due to the high-level of Information Technology (IT) service management that the authority has adopted in line with international standards.
HE Engineer Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of the DHA said that he was proud of the achievements of the DHA IT team. "The DHA will continue to develop its IT services as enhanced IT services provide customers with easy access to information and facilitate better and easy online transactions in healthcare. Enhancing the IT services of governmental organizations is in line with the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and the DHA is moving in this direction."
The DHA IT department worked on this project for eight months. Paramount Consultants were roped into the project to ensure the DHA meets all requisite standards for the certification. The DHA IT services were accredited by Bureau Veritas, a global leader in Testing, Inspection and Certification.
The ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 certification was presented to HE Eng Essa Al Maidoor, Director-General of DHA by Shakir Rasheed, Country Chief Executive at Bureau Veritas Dubai & Oman
Mubaraka Ibrahim, Director of IT at the DHA said: "This accreditation confirms the DHA's commitment to meet high key performance indicator (KPI) levels and provide internal customers with high-level of quality services in line with international standards."
Khawla Lootah, Assistant Director of IT at the DHA said that this accreditation is of significant importance as DHA is the first health entity in the UAE and second government entity in Dubai to receive this certification.
Hayat Al Hammadi, Head of IT services section at the DHA said: " E-services provide customers with convenience and ease and therefore the DHA is working at various levels to further enhance its IT services. This certification is a recognition of our efforts and highlights the quality of IT services that we provide. We are keen to further enhance our IT services in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015."
