Dubai, November 14, 2007: Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) has appointed Swapna Nair as the Group's new General Manager. She will be responsible for DGJG's ongoing marketing initiatives in the regional and international markets to promote Dubai's jewellery trade. She will also oversee the association's extensive training programmes aimed at improving retail services and its partnership with government authorities to ensure the quality of jewellery available in Dubai.
With over 10 years extensive experience in sales, marketing and business management, Nair joins DGJG from BenQ Middle East where she worked as Marketing and Communications Manager for Middle East and Africa for five years. She was greatly responsible for building the electronic brand's equity in the region.
Commenting on Nair's appointment, Tawhid Abdullah, Managing Director, Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group said: "Swapna's strong background in marketing and communications will be an asset to the Group especially as we prepare for the Dubai Shopping Festival and the 6th Dubai City of Gold conference. Swapna has joined us at the right time and we look forward to working with her".
During her decade long career, Nair has also worked with Xerox and Al Futtaim Electronics being involved in all stages of product planning and marketing.

Nair holds a Masters in Business Administration. She takes over from K.P Baiju who has left DGJG after 7 years to be an independent jewellery marketing consultant.
