Two BNF couples to represent Dubai in Florida next month
DUBAI, UAE , November 25, 2007: Two couples from Ballet Nacional El Firulete, a dance company and school that moved to Dubai last year, qualified yesterday to represent Dubai for the first time at the third Annual World Salsa Championship in Orlando Florida, as seen on ESPN International and ESPN Desportes.
The Columbian dancers are winners of numerous competitions in their home country, but new to the World Salsa Championships, taking Dubai there for the first time as well. Thirteen couples competed over two days in front of seven judges at the "International Latin & Salsa Festival held in Dubai over the weekend. The judges comprised of famous and renowned Latin and salsa dancers from all around the world including Spain, U.S, London, France, Africa and India.
"We are very pleased to represent Dubai and our dance company at the most important event in the world for Salsa. Dubai has become our new home and has a rapidly growing salsa culture. It is time others across the globe takes note Dubai's achievement in encouraging and promoting Latin dance" stated Eider Rua, first place winner of the salsa competition this weekend and General Manager of BNF, Dubai.
BNF launched its dance school at Knowledge Village this year and have taken the salsa and tango scene in the emirate to a different level. Their talented groups of dancers have shared their skill and love for dance through the academy and performances. Now they have become an ambassador for Dubai and the region, introducing the tiny emirate to others in the world of salsa.
