Festival office accepts registration for expanded Night Souq outlets
Bigger and better than its earlier version, the DSF Night Souq is coming up fast at its usual venue on Al Seef Street. As the under-construction kiosks are nearing completion, the DSF office continues to accept registration for kiosks and open spaces for the ever-popular Night Souq running during the course of DSF 2005, starting on January 12, 2005.
Following the remarkable success since the introduction of the concept in 2003, the Night Souq is being re-introduced on a larger scale this time round to accommodate the multitude of visitors with major discounts and super deals. The availability of top brands in one location and bargains galore together with the convenient timing for a city that stays awake into the night during DSF has proved to be an irresistible attraction for shoppers at the Night Souq. With Al Seef Street turning into a carnival of delights for serious shoppers, entertainment seekers, or even people just strolling along to imbibe the spirit of the season, business is predicted to be brisker than usual with the thousands of people expected to visit during this 32-day shopping extravaganza.
With a mandatory rule for all participants to offer their goods at cost or wholesale prices, the genuine deals at incredible prices down Al Seef Street during these festive nights is a major attraction for the throngs of bargain hunters. And as with any successful shopping venue, the outlets selling food also do brisk business catering to the multitudes of ravenous consumers. Once again the participation terms require businesses to follow the health guidelines and to ensure the cleanliness of their products and the hygiene of their sales personnel.
The timings for the Night Souq are from 8pm to 2am, Saturday to Tuesday, and from 8pm to 3am, Wednesday to Friday. A 21sqm outlet is available for Dh5,000 for the support sponsor, while outlet in a participating mall pays Dh8,000 for the same while a 23sqm outlet for a restaurant is obtainable for Dh15,000. A 4sqm space comes for Dh10,000 for businesses and the playground area is rented for Dh5,000 to others. All the participants are expected to follow the display timings as specified by the DSF office.
Says Maryam Mohammed Arhama, DSF Senior Events Coordinator, "Application forms for kiosk hire can be obtained from the DSF office on the second floor of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai. All completed forms should be submitted with a plan or layout attached, by December 25. It is also the responsibility of the hirer to ensure that the terms and conditions pertaining to the health and safety rules are strictly adhered to.
"During the last DSF, a record 70 kiosks and open spaces were rented out at the semi-circular Night Souq with a parking capacity of 500 cars. This being the 10th anniversary of the Dubai Shopping Festival, and a record influx of visitors expected, we are sure that the number of outlets will top that of last year. Already more than 50 prominent names including Giordano Fashion LLC, Juma Al Majid Est, Ajmal Perfumes Manufacturing LLC, Jashanmal National Co LL, National Store, Al Madani Group, Seddiqi & Sons LLC etc have already registered with us, and we are expecting many more," she says.
The Dubai Shopping Festival 2005 runs between January 12 and February 12, 2005. For further information visit DSF website: www.mydsf.ae or call Ahlan Dubai on 600545555.
