As part of the policy of the Arab Fertiliser Association aimed at promoting joint Arab activities in the fertilizer industry, Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, GPIC General Manager and AFA Chairman visited Oman Fertilizer Company (OMFCO) in the Sultanate of Oman to invite the latter to join AFA. Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed inspected the construction works at the Company's site in Sour province, as commercial production in 2005 with a capacity of 1.6 million tons of granular urea and 1.2 million tons of ammonia.
During the visit, Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed held a meeting with Mr. Ahmed bin Salim al Wohaibi, Chairman of Oman Fertilizer Company in the presence of Mr. Anthony Smith, Company's Chief Executive. Their talks dealt with means of promoting co-operation between Arab Companies engaged in the production of chemical fertilizers in addition to the interest of the Omani Company to join AFA to play its role in promoting joint Arab co-operation for the benefit of the fertilizer industry. When the Company joins AFA, the Arab fertilizer producers will total 14 member countries of AFA.
On this occasion, Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed welcomed the Sultanate of Oman's participation in AFA's future events and activities. He said as part of the existing co-operation between GPIC and the Omani Company, the former would train Omani nationals at the GPIC Complex in Bahrain.
Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed was accompanied in this visit by Mr. Yousuf Ebrahim Fakhro, Marketing and Planning Manager and AFA Economic Committee Chairman.
