The Arab Fertilizer Association held its 11th Annual International Forum in Egypt from 1st to 3rd February, 2005 under the patronage of Egypt's Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazeef.

With a participation of more than 500 delegates from different countries and organizations, the Forum clearly demonstrated that it is a significant event among all those who are concerned with the fertilizer industry in the world.      

Participants in the Forum discussed Pan-Arab co-operation, integration, investment and available Arab opportunities in the fertilizer industry, current situation and future prospects of the global fertilizer market, supply and demand in the fertilizer markets, fertilizer trade, shipping, storage and raw materials and new issues related to the use of fertilizers and protection of the environment.

During the event, Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed, former AFA President in recognition of his efforts in the emergence of AFA on the international scene during his term of office was honoured.  The Board of Directors also decided to award him honorary membership in appreciation of his excellent services.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery, GPIC General Manager was also appointed as an AFA Board Member to participate in drawing up future plans and strategies.  Achieving the AFA objectives and furthering co-operation among the member companies are part of his mandate as a new Board member.

On this occasion, Mr. Abdul Rahman Jawahery said he was pleased to participate in this significant forum and was impressed by the papers and discussions related to the fertilizer industry and supporting services.

Mr. Jawahery added that this Conference is considered as one of the means that allow participants to exchange views and to face the major challenges that call for mere co-ordination and co-operation to realize the optimum benefit from the Arab countries' substantial resources in this field.
