Applied chemistry offerings for Middle East meet needs for evolving oil and gas industry - Joint ventures and collaborations foster innovation, regional economic development

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - November 07, 2012 - Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to the Middle East oil and gas industry, Dow Chemical will highlight solutions for upstream, midstream and downstream energy production at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) on November 11-14, 2012.

"ADIPEC is an excellent venue for showcasing our innovations, but we value it as much for the opportunity to learn more about the unique needs of our customers and potential customers," said Larry Ryan, General Manager, Dow Oil & Gas. "These are the conversations that drive our collaboration efforts and lead to game-changing industry advances."

Dow has nearly 100 years of experience in the oilfield and a history of innovation through collaboration with customers across the oil and gas value chain. Recent innovations include the NEPTUNE™ Advanced Subsea Flow Assurance Insulation System, launched this spring and named the Best Production Technology of 2012 by World Oil magazine.

"Many of our conversations in the Middle East are focused on the region's expansion into gas treating and refining," said Antoine Samaha, Regional Commercial Director - Oil & Gas, Dow Middle East & Africa. "In addition to solutions for exploration and production, a focal point for Dow innovation here in the Middle East is on the application of chemistries that can improve process efficiency while optimizing water use, preserving water quality and minimizing environmental impact."

At ADIPEC 2012, Dow will showcase key offerings for all phases of the oil and gas value chain, including these technologies:

AQUCAR™ Water Treatment Biocides. Microbial control products used in oil and gas recovery processes to protect the quality of water by controlling the growth of bacteria and preventing the formation of harmful byproducts of their growth.

DOW IntegraPacTM Skid. This pre-engineered DOW Ultrafiltration (UF) solution simplifies the process of incorporating UF into critical water treatment systems and results in reduced material and assembly costs.

DOW FILMTEC™ Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membranes. This industry-leading RO technology helps produce ultrapure water for steam generation and make-up water for cooling towers.

AMINE MANAGEMENTSM Program. A comprehensive service program used in oil refinery amine systems to help plant managers maximize efficiencies and minimize costs associated with sweetening refinery gas to comply with environmental emissions regulations and/or upgrade refinery gas to feedstock grade.

UCARSEP™ Process for solvent purification. Specifically designed for use in amine systems to reduce or prevent the formation of heat stable amine salts, prolonging solvent lifespan and reducing corrosion.

UCARSOL™ Specialty Solvents. Specially formulated amine-based solvents that enhance selective acid gas removal properties of amine systems at oil refineries and natural gas processing plants. Often used in conjunction with services in Dow's AMINE MANAGEMENTSM Program to optimize amine system performance.
