Amman, Jordan, 11 January 2012 -- Dollar Rent A Car of Jordan, a licensee of the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, today announced the appointment of Munir Iskandrani as its new General Manager. Reporting to the Managing Director of Dollar Rent A Car, Munir will oversee the company's operations, finance, and drive sales amid the burgeoning tourism in the country.

A Jordanian national and seasoned businessman, Iskandrani brings over 30 years of banking and car rental business experience from Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

"Car rental is one of the most thriving businesses in Jordan today, and I am very pleased to lead Dollar in Jordan," said Munir Iskandrani, General Manager, Dollar Rent A Car, Jordan. "We are increasing our fleet by 15 percent and upgraded to 2012 models with a higher number of the more popular SUVs, intermediates and minivans."

Iskandrani continued, "In 2012 we should see several factors contribute to the increase in Jordan's tourism, including political stability, increased flights and completed infrastructure projects. We are actively working together with governmental bodies and tourism companies to capitalize on the growth to serve visitors to Jordan with our highest standards of car rental and provide the complete tourism experience."

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the direct contribution of Travel &Tourism to GDP in Jordan is expected to be JOD1,723.6mn (8.3 per cent of total GDP) in 2011, rising by 4.5 percent per annum to JOD2,686.6mn (7.9 per cent) in 2021. Travel & Tourism investment is estimated at JOD418.2mn or 8.7 per cent of total investment in 2011. It should rise by 3.9 per cent per annum to reach JOD613.4mn (or 8.4 per cent) of total investment in 2021.
