UAE's Swiss Bureau Interior Design wins global tender process & build-out commences

Abu Dhabi, UAE: US-based healthcare company, DNA Health Corp, has awarded the multi-million fitout and furnishing contract of its global flagship integrative medicine & wellness centre on Abu Dhabi's Saadiyat Island to UAE-based architecture and interior design firm, Swiss Bureau Interior Design.
Swiss Bureau was awarded the contract unanimously by the DNA Health Corp's Board of Directors, following a global six-way tender process. Build-out for the DNA Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness in The Collection retail complex at the five-star St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort Abu Dhabi will now commence, with the centre expected to open in Q1 2013.
"The tender process involved six global firms and was evaluated on the technical, financial, legal and project management levels of expertise of each submission," said Dr Ahsan Malik, Chief Operating Officer and Project Director for the Middle East, DNA Health Corp. "Not only were Swiss Bureau consistently superior across the board on all functional aspects, they were also the most competitive bid and impressed our board members with their creative and innovative approach to realising the DNA vision."
"It was clear to us that the team at Swiss Bureau, who were responsible for designing the original concept for the centre, were with us from the start and just as passionate about the project as we are," adds Dr Malik.
Taking inspiration from the brief provided by DNA Health to create a natural and harmonious interior for the DNA Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness to reflect its holistic and innovative approach to family health care in the 21st century, Swiss Bureau
designed a transformative space within which guests are welcomed to seek healing and rejuvenation.
"It was vital for us to bring the tranquility and fluidity of nature into the very heart of the centre," explained Joakim de Rham, Managing Partner and Interior Architect, Swiss Bureau Interior Design. "We employed the very latest techniques in interior design to incorporate a stunningly visual vertical garden as part of the reception and welcome area, with engaging water features to soothe all the senses as guests arrive for their treatments."
"Reflecting the organic curves of nature was paramount to our team, and we have managed to ensure there is a surprise and delight aspect at every turn within the centre. Treatment rooms are equipped with high-technology but softened with bamboo and natural blond wood to create a sense of harmony, and our aim was for guests to feel enveloped in serenity while receiving unparalleled care."
The ten-strong Swiss Bureau team leapt at the chance to imagine a space beyond conventional interior design for the healthcare industry.
"Our creative juices really started flowing," continued de Rham, "this was truly a dream project for us, and we are looking forward to continuing our collaborative partnership with DNA Health Corp as the company expands regionally and globally."
The DNA Center for Integrative Medicine & Wellness is envisioned to become a regional centre of excellence for residents and international visitors seeking wellness and rejuvenation, with US-trained medical staff providing integrated treatment for chronic diseases, as well as lifestyle management, bio-aesthetics and healthy aging, It will offer a new model of family health care based on a holistic approach uniting leading-edge Western medicine advanced diagnostics and cellular therapies complemented by Eastern alternative modalities.
