Bahrain's leading community development pledges support for Kingdom's community initiatives
Bahrain, 25th October 2008: Diyar Al Muharraq, one of Bahrain's biggest mixed-use residential urban developments, today pledged its support to encourage youth and sport in the Kingdom when the development's CEO, Mr Aaref Hejres was joined by Mr. Jumma Shereda, President of the Galali Club, to sign a sponsorship agreement with the Muharraq-based Galali Club. The initiative, which will be the first of many by the community-focused developer, is in line with Diyar Al Muharraq's overall aim of offering positive lifestyle changes across the whole community.
As well as supporting the existing local community and its clubs and activities, the self-contained city of Diyar Al Muharraq will provide much increased access to a wide range of quality public and private amenities, including sports' grounds and community centres, giving both residents and visitors opportunity to exercise regularly, and to meet in a community setting.
Mr. Aaref Hejres, Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq said "As a Bahraini project for the people, Diyar Al Muharraq is committed to supporting our local community and this is our first initiative in this direction. We are very proud to be associated with the Galali Club and we remain dedicated to supporting youth by creating numerous initiatives to develop their potential."
Founded in 1957, the Galali club has over the years played a prominent role in refining the energy and talents of the youth by encouraging their involvement in miscellaneous club activities that include drama, cultural events and sports.
Mr. Jumma Shereda, President of the Galali Club, expressing his gratitude to Diyar Al Muharraq, said: "Diyar Al Muharraq recognises that youth is the future of the Kingdom, and is playing a leading role in encouraging talent by supporting popular clubs like ours. This sponsorship will give even more youngsters the chance to benefit from our many facilities."
Mr. Isa Abulfateh, Member of the Finance and Economic Committee, also attended the event, and said: "The Galili Club has worked tirelessly for our community over the years, and I have seen many young people enjoy and benefit from the diverse activities. This latest injection of support will give the club and the community a boost of energy and enthusiasm. Diyar al Muharraq's support shows their commitment to the youth of our community, and I am proud that they are extending their support, not only to the people who will live in Diyar Al Muharraq, but also to all the people of Bahrain."
Located on the northern shores of Muharraq, Diyar Al Muharraq will provide a cohesive mix of residential and commercial properties with housing opportunities for over 100,000 people in around 30,000 housing units. It will be the first development in Bahrain to offer 40 kilometers of waterfront. This will include walkways, sea-facing parks, sandy beaches and a marina with a pleasant waterfront promenade, making it one of the Kingdom's most enticing destinations.
