Discovery Education, in partnership with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) and under the supervision of the Ministry of Education today announced that it has been shortlisted for a 2018 Bett Award, an annual international award programme specialized in educational technology. Discovery Education and EKB are together nominated in the “International Digital Education Resource” category for their efforts in introducing innovative learning and teaching methods to empower Egyptian students with 21st century skills and their role in transforming education in Egypt.

This is the second year in a row for Discovery Education in partnership with the Egyptian Knowledge Bank to be shortlisted for a Bett Award. This year’s nomination is a direct result of the positive impact Discovery Education and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank have on the teaching and learning experience in all academic stages in basic education in Egypt.

Dr. Tarek Shawki, Minister of Education and Technical Education commented: “Since the launch of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, we have been committed to providing the best intellectual and innovative content to equip new generations with 21st century skills. The Bett show (British Educational Training and Technology) is an annual industry show in the United Kingdom, specialized in education technology. It brings people, companies, ideas, practices and technologies together to inspire learners and educators to reach their potential.

This year the Bett is bringing 850 leading companies, 103 new startups in education technology, and over 34,700 attendees from 131 countries. The show will be showcasing education technology solutions essential for the transformation of education in 19 categories such as Classroom Aids for Learning, Teaching and Assessment, Special Education Needs Solutions, International Digital Education Resource, and Higher or Further Education Digital Services. The finalists involve resources and companies that seek to provide educators with the information and ideas fundamental to the learning process. The Bett Awards 2018 ceremony will take place for 4 days 24th-27th January at Tobacco Dock in London
