Recognition follows DHL Bahrain's recent awards for quality training and increasing Bahrainisation level

Manama, May 8, 2008: DHL Express Bahrain has once again been recognized as an outstanding employer after being awarded 'Investor in People' (IiP) accreditation. The award followed the company's demonstration of its exerted efforts to develop employees through extensive training and development programmes, in addition to increased employee engagement strategies and improved communication forums.

IiP is an internationally recognised quality standard which is designed to advance an organisation's performance through an increased involvement of its people, and the awarding of this standard clearly demonstrates an organisation's excellence in human resource practice.

Brian Shaw, Head of Human Resources for DHL Middle East commented, "IiP accreditation is only presented to companies that can demonstrate they have an excellent working environment; recognise and celebrate success; are committed to training and development and have a good communication network.  This facilitates a clear understanding in the organisation of the individual employee's value and the part they play in delivering excellent services that contribute to the business growth of customers. This award represents a tremendous achievement by everyone involved in DHL Bahrain."

DHL Bahrain received the accreditation in a letter of congratulations from IiP in the UK, and announced the news to its staff and employees at a monthly communication meeting. In July 2007, SNAS/DHL achieved the IiP award in Saudi Arabia, the first company in the Middle East to do so, demonstrating its high level of performance, workforce stability and employee satisfaction.

Basil Al Azem, Middle East Area Human Resources Development Manager, and IiP Project Manager, said: "Our appreciation and gratitude goes to the management as well as employees who have clearly communicated the vision and mission of the company and reinforced the understanding of the Individual Key Objectives and Key Performance Indicators. Earning the IiP award further validates our strong commitment, as a company, to ensuring that employees in DHL Bahrain are fully engaged, and have an active role to play in the success of our organization."

"At DHL, we are committed to providing customers with intelligent logistics solutions and a first-class service. But we strive to do better every day. With our service initiative First Choice, we aim to be first choice for every employee and every customer, every time", said Al Azem.

DHL Bahrain has recently won two national awards for its training programmes aimed at grass roots, vocational development of Bahraini nationals and overall employee development programmes, as well as for its high level of Bahrainisation. Currently, more than 70 per cent of the company's workforce is Bahrain nationals.
