DEWA ranked number one in MENA in implementing SAP Programme
Dubai, UAE; 04 November, 2012: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has successfully completed the first phase of the Indicators project, which aims to automate the management and execution of DEWA's strategic planning at the managerial and implementation levels. Based on international best practices in this field, Indicators implements the international Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) programme SAP, which aims to measure, integrate and automate all internal operations of DEWA and link them with the outputs of the Strategic Plan.
"The launch of this project complements DEWA's new strategic vision, which is in line with the guidelines of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve sustained excellence across the technical and managerial levels at all organisations of the Government of Dubai," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA
"Since its inception, DEWA has adopted strategic planning as an integral approach to achieve its vision, objectives and strategies. The first phase of the Indicators project is a unique achievement for DEWA, as it has positioned us as the first utility that has successfully implemented this advanced program, which is certified by the founders of the Balanced Scorecard system, in the Middle East and North Africa. The Indicators project positions DEWA as the first utility in the Middle East in terms of strategic planning and commitment to the five principles for of the Strategy-Focused Organization," said Al Tayer.
"We are committed to continuously improve our managerial and technical strategies and action plans to continuously provide high-end services to our consumers. The launch of this project falls within our integrated approach that takes into consideration the extent of the continuous e-transformation processes at DEWA. On completion of the comprehensive electronic linking stages for all key strategic indicators, the SAP program will enable linking DEWA with the electronic resources that are necessary for providing periodic readings of its strategic indicators. This will support the decision-making mechanism in terms of timely and accurate information," said Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at DEWA.
"SAP will enable DEWA's management to monitor the progress levels in executing the strategic plan electronically through an integrated reporting and electronic communication system between DEWA's officials. It also enables monitoring of the progress of the electronically-approved strategic department plans and initiatives," said Salman.
"This project is part of the electronic transformation process at DEWA. The SAP program provides an effective integration between strategies and operations management at DEWA by securing accurate and comprehensive information as and when required, to obtain a quick and accurate decision-making mechanism that enables DEWA to respond to the work environment effectively," said Marwan Salem Bin Haider, CIO and Vice President of IT at DEWA.
