International ICT Consultancy firm reviews the importance of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) as key to delivering eGovernment services

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: 15 March 2008. Devoteam Middle East, Devoteam's regional ICT consultancy for the Middle East, will present its views on the benefits of open standard based Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) for eGovernment services implementation at this year's Middle East eGovernment Conference & Exhibition.

Devoteam Middle East, which has extensive experience in eGovernment consulting including its work for the governments of Saudi Arabia and Jordan, will address the pillars for establishing a successful e-Government program at the Conference.

The Government Service Bus (GSB) is part of the core pillars of any eGovernment program. Devoteam Middle East has acquired significant experience through its recent projects in developing such GSB architectures. The presentation will also cover how the GSB conceptual architecture will be the core platform for providing eGovernment services. These services are focused towards other government organizations (G2G), to businesses and third parties (G2B) and to citizens (G2C).

eGovernment program pillars include:

  • Secure Government Network - this ensures a robust and safe operating environment for eGovernment and its clients

  • E-Gov Portal - the main user interface for eGovernment services which needs to be easy to use, navigate and interact with for all users

  • Government Framework for Interoperability - this ensures that all systems within the framework can and do connect and interact properly with each other

  • PKI Initiative - this is important in two ways: Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) encrypts communications so that they cannot be read or tampered with. Secondly, PKI enables parties to conduct binding agreements, contracts and payments online with proof of agreement and acceptance on both sides,

  • E-Service Enablement Framework - this provides existing and future government agencies with ready-made plans for developing their own eServices

"For many countries, eGovernment services will revolutionize the way they conduct business amongst themselves, businesses and their citizens. What really matters, however, is that these services are both secure and easily accessible by one and all. As Internet penetration is significantly increasing across the region, it becomes essential that these elements are in place," explained Osama Ghoul, Managing Partner of Devoteam Middle East.

"This is why Devoteam Middle East has taken into consideration the local aspects and requirements for eGovernment Services and the best practices in SOA to develop the Government Service Bus architecture to meet these needs."

Devoteam Middle East defines SOA as the means for services and business functions to communicate and interact with each other.

Devoteam Middle East will be present at The Middle East eGovernment Conference & Exhibition, which takes place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh during 15-18 March.
