Deloitte has won double global recognition for the support and accounting training programme it gives to its audit and finance staff in the Middle East.

ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants),  the global body for professional accountants, has awarded two Platinum approved employer level status certificates to Deloitte Middle East,  not only for the training support provided for student accountants but also for the Professional Development support it gives to qualified accountants, who must keep their skills and knowledge continuously updated, after qualifying.

As part of the programme, employers whose training schemes meet ACCA's rigorous criteria can become ACCA Approved Employers under the professional development stream, and are rewarded with a broad range of tools to help implement their staff development programmes. These include e-learning resources such as online courses, a CPD planning tool known as the professional development matrix and a knowledge library, an internet based research resource tool.

Omar Fahoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Deloitte & Touche Middle East, commented: "The ACCA accreditation is a highly valued qualification by multinational companies, accounting firms, governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations. It is a great recognition for Deloitte in the Middle East to receive the ACCA certificate since ACCA standards have gained momentum here: International Financial Reporting Standards are being applied and there is an increased focus on corporate governance and compliance. In addition, t Deloitte in the Middle East offers the Professional Development Program, which supports university graduates in obtaining international qualifications that include the ACCA qualification and valuable practical experience required to become an ACCA member".

Stephen Shields, ACCA's Head of Corporate Development - Middle East, said: "Platinum level is the highest status available to employers and it is a major achievement for an organisation to attain this level for the training and support it provides to students and qualified accountants, who must continue to study throughout their careers. ACCA warmly congratulates Deloitte in the Middle East on this achievement, and we look forward to working closely with this outstanding organisation in the future."
