Move highlights the significance of education in the UAE's future
Dubai, August 31, 2006: The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) in coordination with Dubai Educational Zone honoured today at Al Reef Mall a number of school principals, senior officials and teachers that have served more than 30 years of their working careers in teaching. The honouring ceremony comes as part of Back-2-School Summer Surprises Activity Week 2006.
Khalifa bin Fares, Director of Dubai Educational Zone, Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development, DED and Sultan Ali Lootah, Head of the Organising Committee of Back-2-School Surprises honoured the selected educational personalities.
"Investing in education and human capital has been our leadership's priority since the inception of the UAE. The UAE's wealth of quality human resources in the education sector has been a catalyst for development and growth to the country," said Al Kassim. "Through honouring these teachers, the Back-2-School Surprises commemorates the role of education in driving progress and development in the country," he added.
"The honouring ceremony is a show of gratitude to those who have sacrificed most of their lives teaching and educating generations that had a positive impact on the development and growth of our country. We are honouring these icons today to highlight their efforts and accomplishments in elevating the level of the education in the UAE," said bin Fares.
