HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi:
Since its formation, the UAE has championed the empowerment of women, inspired by the vision of the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his efforts to support and promote women in the workplace and in leadership positions. HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, also directed HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to monitor efforts to empower women and enhance their role at the State and community levels and to facilitate their endeavours across all fields and sectors, highlighting gender equality.
DCT Abu Dhabi is fully aligned with the Emirate’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment, striving to support and actively showcase the contribution of women across all our programmes and sectors, and continuously working to foster female talent. As an organisation, we are proud of our female leaders who are playing a pivotal role in promoting intercultural dialogue and tolerance, and adding significant input into the culture, tourism and publishing sectors.
Emirati women have made unprecedented strides, both regionally and internationally, across numerous social and professional fields. Today, we take pride in seeing women working at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, a true testament to the skills and competence they offer, cementing their status as a key partner in our developmental journey.
Women are an invaluable resource, continuing to innovate and drive us forward. In the UAE, we view women as key pillars of our society and leading contributors to the progress of our country.
HE Saood Al Hosani, Acting Undersecretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi:
We stand proud on Emirati Women's Day as we honour the major contributions of Emirati women to the development of our country, our communities and families. At DCT Abu Dhabi, our female employees are an indispensable part of our success. They are playing an increasingly critical role in our growth, lending their unique perspectives and voices to the UAE's cultural, educational and intellectual landscapes.
We continue to be inspired by the dedication of our female colleagues in driving excellence across various sectors, including the arts, culture, publishing and tourism. They stand as perfect examples of Emirati women’s talent and ability to thrive. As a country, we can look to the future with confidence as long as we continue along the path of empowering Emirati women.
We must also not forget the efforts of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, in supporting and empowering Emirati women.
We have recently launched a Women's Council at DCT Abu Dhabi, which will be chaired by HE Nawal Al Hassani, Executive Director of Strategy and Planning, and will include a group of DCT Abu Dhabi employees. This significant step underlines our faith in the ability of Emirati women to lead by example, especially as they have accomplished so much in record time, given the relative youth of our nation.
HE Nawal Al Hassani, Executive Director of the Strategy and Planning Sector, Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi:
Today, I invite all Emirati women to join me in recognising the support and care that our wise leadership offers, which continues to drive us to innovate, overcome adversity and push the envelope to realise our dreams.
We continue to draw strength from the late Sheikh Zayed, who always believed in the potential of Emirati women to advance our country's development, whilst building our determination on the limitless support of HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the ‘Mother of the Nation’, who has fostered our creativity and excellence across all fields and public and private institutions.
Today, we celebrate the inauguration of the DCT Abu Dhabi Women's Council, which aims to support Emirati women at DCT Abu Dhabi through programmes, plans and policies that ensure their voices are heard. The Council will also leverage their capabilities to help achieve the visions of DCT Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
This new council is evidence of DCT Abu Dhabi's dedication to supporting Emirati women, investing in their dreams, harnessing their potential and helping to drive their efforts to become the leaders of tomorrow.
