Innovative product proves popular with visitors from Guatemala, South Africa, Egypt, UAE, India and Pakistan
Dubai, UAE, 22 March 2005: As the modernisation of the multi-billion dollar textile business in Asia and the Middle East gathers pace, a new industry product has enjoyed immediate success within hours of its world-wide launch in Dubai.
Developed by Datacolor, a leading provider of colour management solutions such as control systems, instruments, software and laboratory equipment, a new, cost-effective conditioning cabinet for colour samples has made a big impact on visitors to Textile Expo Dubai, the four-day industry showcase.
"We recorded a first-day sale within hours of the exhibition opening, and the product has attracted the interest of over 30 textile manufacturers from Guatemala, South Africa, Egypt, the UAE, India and Pakistan," said Datacolor UK general manager, David Hudson. "We're delighted with the platform that has been provided here in Dubai."
Datacolor believe the textile industry, which employs millions of people across the region, will find the product increasingly attractive because it is inexpensive, compact and easy to install in a factory, laboratory or office.
"As textile industry production cycles become shorter and geographical distances expand, textile manufacturers realise the importance of investing in quality products that save them time and money," Hudson said.
"The international textile market is sophisticated and highly competitive and investing in the right machinery is vital for all players."
Organised by Streamline Marketing in collaboration with UK-based, XPO Events/Turret Group and taking place at Airport Expo Dubai, the new shop window for the region's textile industry has been launched as manufacturers invest in modernisation to meet the challenge of Chinese competition with the abolition of trade quotas.
Taking advantage of the textile machinery industry's big players coming together under one roof, Atlas Copco Group chose the event to demonstrate its compressed air solutions specifically designed for the Middle East market where high temperatures and humidity place greater demands on technical equipment. The local Atlas Copco Sales Company, Atlas Copco Services Middle East, based in Bahrain, supplied compressed air for free to the benefit of all exhibitors.
"The Gulf region is becoming widely recognised as an area with great business potential and we expect to see an influx of investment, including direct foreign investment in the textile industry," said Bengt Kvarnb?ck, Senior Executive Vice President of the Atlas Copco Group.
The event gathered more than 120 leading textile machinery manufacturers displaying
wide range of fabric and textiles machinery at the event, which has attracted a substantial number of trade visitors from major textile producing countries such as India, Pakistan, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Egypt.
Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, U.A.E. Minister of Finance & Industry and Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Textile Expo Dubai is officially supported by Temsad (Turkish Machinery Association), Kotma (Korean Textile Machinery Association), CTMA (Chinese Textile Machinery Association) and ITAMMA (Indian Textile Accessories and Machinery Manufacturers Association). The exhibition closes tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.
