Dar Al Shifa Hospital celebrates International Nurses Day

Recognizes the contribution of Nurses to the community through a special anthem composed by nurses

Kuwait City, Monday, 12 May 2008: Dar Al Shifa Hospital celebrated International Nurses Day on May 12^th with an exclusive event held under the patronage of the guest of honor, Sheikha Fareeha Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the Sheikha Salwa Sabah Ballroom. Attended by key representatives from the Healthcare Industry including Mr Gilles Lanteigne - CCHSA Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, the event recognized the dedication and services offered by the Hospital's nurses to patients.

The International Nurses Day is celebrated every year on May 12^th as a tribute to the practice of nursing started by Florence Nightingale. This year's theme centers on 'Delivering Quality and Serving Communities'. On this occasion, Dar Al Shifa Hospital's nurses composed a special anthem inspired by their endeavors to comfort patients' everyday lives at the Hospital.

Highlighting the Hospital's efforts to sustain and enhance quality service following the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA) secured recently, Dar Al Shifa Hospital Narjess Al Yousifi said " This event is not only an occasion for us to thank our Nurses for their work, but also is in line with our mission to achieve excellence in healthcare services. Patients look for safety, comfort and high treatment standards from a hospital. We are working to ensure they receive that and our Nurses help us in this direction."

Acknowledging the role played by nurses in creating a culture of safety for patients and offering quality services, Dar Al Shifa Hospital demonstrated its commitment to recognize the relentless and nurturing work of nurses in caring for the community's well-being, not only at the Hospital, but worldwide as well. A series of activities were organized, including through-provoking skits, interspersed with keynote speeches by the chief guests.
