International event brings together finest speakers on applied and clinical sciences relating to sport, exercise and health
Doha, February 18, 2006: Doha Asian Games Organising Committee (DAGOC) will organise Sports Science Congress titled 'Sports Science in the 21st Century' to discuss sports science, doping control, women in sport and mass gathering medicine.
The Congress will be held from 15 to 17 September 2006 at the Doha Sheraton Hotel and will bring together sports scientists, researchers, physicians, anti-doping experts, scholars and major event planners to share their knowledge, experience and expertise.
Speakers and their presentations will cover the treatment of elite athletes to planning for a major event, such as Doha 2006 Games. The Congress will include workshops, abstract presentations, poster presentations and an exhibition.
"The aim of this Congress is to create a multi-disciplinary forum for doctors, scientists and interest groups from all fields of sport sciences", said Mr. Yousef Mohamed Al Othman, Deputy Director General, Operations at DAGOC.
"The Congress will provide a state-of-the-art view of applied and clinical sciences relating to sport, exercise and health. Additionally, aspects of education and numerous other fields which greatly impact the future of sport science in the Middle East will also be highlighted".
Speakers at the congress include Dr. Robert Pedowitz (USA), Prof Jiri Dvorak (C. Republic), Ms Nichola Vance (Australia), Dr. Mohammed Ali (Qatar) and Dr. Abdulwahab Al Musleh (Qatar) amongst others.
Delegates will also be given a guided tour of some of The Games venues as well as the sights and attractions of the Doha 2006 host city.

About the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006
The Asian Games is the second largest international sporting event after the International Summer Olympic Games. It brings together countries from all over Asia and consists of some sports not very well known on all international levels.
The First Asian Games took place in New Delhi in 1951 and welcomed 11 countries playing in just six sports. Now 55 years later, the Games will include 45 different countries who will participate in 39 competitive sports totalling 423 events.
