DUBAI, THE UAE, December 24, 2008 - D-Link Middle East, the end-to-end provider of network solutions for consumers and businesses today announced the launch of a new Web Graphic User Interface (GUI) for its managed switch products to offer an improved, intuitive and user-friendly interface, which will facilitate the configuration process of complex networks for system administrators.

These days, configuring switching solutions to manage corporate and business networks goes beyond the simple forwarding of data. With network security becoming an area of great concern for corporations and businesses in the recent years, many companies are now looking into pushing network intelligence to the edge, rather than just relying on aggregation and core switching solutions. With Layer 2 edge switches, switching solutions can now be transformed into providing more powerful and robust security features. However, with more feature-rich capabilities, the switch configuration has also become more complex, which makes it harder to configure using Command Line Interface (CLI). As a result, more and more users now prefer to use Web GUI as a viable alternative to CLI for the switch configuration because it provides easy click-and-save, making it simpler for system administrators to setup and verify switch configurations.

"D-Link is determined to meet its customers' needs, hence we are launching this new innovative, intuitive, and user-friendly next generation Web GUI, which covers all essential functionalities available with Command Line Interface," said Harrison Albert, Regional Sales Director at D-Link Middle East. "With this new and completely re-designed web interface for D-Link switches, the efforts for configuring networks can now be significantly reduced."

Some of the key features in D-Link's next generation Web GUI include:

Innovative ACL wizard: A complete step-by-step configuration of even the most complicated Access Control List (ACL) settings in a straightforward and simple manner.

Firewall-like ACL: With all new ACL rule and more intuitive setup, the firewall-like ACL enables easy and flexible ACL field assignment just like that of any firewall.

Friendly Tips: The ability to add an "example" and description on each help page to remind users the correct setup.

D-Link is continuing to see tremendous growth for its switch product line. According to In-Stat's 1Q 2008 LAN Switch Market report, D-Link's Managed Switch is placed fourth in position worldwide for port shipment. D-Link's L2/L3 FE Fixed Managed Switch is placed third, and D-Link's L2 FE Managed Switch is placed second.

D-Link is determined to continue to improve the way people deploy switches. With this new next generation Web GUI, setting up complex switching solutions for networks can now be easier and more convenient than ever, making D-Link one step closer to breaking every barrier that hinders anyone from enjoying the full benefit of the network, and fulfilling the mission of "Building Networks for People".

Supported Models (as of today):

DES-3528/52 series
DGS-3200 series
DGS-3100 series

For all future new projects, D-Link will implement this new generation web GUI for its products.
