Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beneteau Cup 2007 in the Middle East, organized by Duboats, is due to kick-off at the Dubai International Marine Club this coming Friday, November 2nd. The 2007 Beneteau regatta will be bringing together Beneteau sailors from all over the Gulf to participate in a low-pressure, high-fun race.
"The Beneteau Cup is a great mix of racing together with family entertainment. This annual event gathers Beneteau owners from all over the Gulf, who's cruising and racing yachts originate from the most successful boat builder in the world," comments Christophe Vanek, managing director of Duboats and one of the most talented and experienced sailors in the UAE. "Last year's race was a tremendously fun event, complete with a competitive racing edge. We are very excited about this year's regatta."
Last year's Duboats Beneteau Regatta was a tremendous success: 22 Beneteau sailing boats participated and approximately 250 people attended. The sailors shared their passion for sailing in a very pleasant, yet enthusiastic atmosphere. Pal Zileri, skippered by Kristian Tzanov, came first out of thirteen in the spinnaker category. Bulgarian born Kristian Tzanov, renown in the world of motocross, is now excelling in the sailing world racing a Beneteau 44.7ft yacht voted "Boat of the Year 2006" at the AMIF Australian Marine Awards 2006. "It's a wonderful event and one of the best sailing events in the region. I'm looking forward to participate again in this year's event with my old boat and I have to congratulate the organisers of the event for a well organised day," said Kristian.
Kristian Tsanvov stood out in last year's race, not only through his performance but also through his extensive experience as a sailor in racing, long distance trips and cruises. He is now the proud owner of his third Beneteau boat, the Beneteau First 34.7 being his most recent acquisition.
Commenting on this year's event M. Scully, managing director, Le Meridien Mina Seyahi said, "We are elated to be part of this year's regatta. Le Meridien Mina Seyahi strongly believes in promoting water sports in Dubai and the UAE, we see this opportunity as the first step to build a strong bond with the sailing world."
This year, 25 boats will be entering the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beneteau Cup 2007. The day will start with a welcome brunch for all the participants from 9:30 am to 12:30pm, before the race actually takes off at 1pm from the Dubai International Marine Club. The prize giving ceremony will take place at 6:30pm on the same day where a whole host of prizes are to be presented courtesy of BMW, Lancel, Lamborghini, SAFA, DIMC, Passionata, Wenger, Evian, Swatch, Bin Zayed Group, North Sails, Lancelin, Marine Pool, Wichard, Jotun Paint, Raymarine 6D's and Ducharter. Five trophies will be awarded to the spinnaker category, and five 5 to the non spinnaker category and there will be a trophy for the Beneteau owner of the year 2007. The evening will end with a buffet dinner and live music played by a notorious group.
To top the event, the new Beneteau Océanis 46 will be on show during the regatta. The Beneteau Océanis 46 is a prestigious yacht that heralds a new era in the history of blue water cruising yachts. The Océanis 46 is an unequivocal invitation to delight in her design, comfort and performance. The hull and deck plan are the work of the Berret Racoupeau design office. Their designs have led to the creation of an aesthetically powerful and attractive yacht with remarkable sea keeping qualities. The interior architecture and design are by Nauta Design. This great Italian name, a benchmark in the super yacht world, has helped the Océanis 46 achieve her true personality - one of contemporary lines where luminosity, comfort and wellbeing take precedence on board.
