"Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative" Launches "Noor Al Hayat" Project for the Prevention and Treatment of 1 Million Patients In Collaboration With Noor Dubai

Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid: Today We Continue to Give in Pledge to the Legacy of Late Sheikh Zayed

Dubai: July 24, 2013, in line with the objectives of "Al Manal Humanitarian Initiative" in consolidating the culture of social responsibility and rooting values ​​of social solidarity, Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, announces "Noor Al Hayat" project, to be the first humanitarian activity of the initiative.

The launch of this project comes with a generous support of Her Highness and in collaboration with Noor Dubai to provide prevention and treatment services to 1 million patients suffering from sight ailments in different regions of the world.

Her Highness Sheikha Manal stressed that this humanitarian initiative continues the good efforts of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, for the development of the UAE and position the country highest status among nations. Coinciding with the Emirati Humanitarian Work Day, where UAE nationals and residents celebrate his immortal memory, as he was a symbol of goodness and generosity that left unforgettable achievements for humanity to remember, and today we continue these giving efforts in pledge to the legacy of a great leader.

Commenting on "Noor Al Hayat" project, Her Highness said: "Sight is a great gift of God; it is the means by which humans see the paths of present and the future, thus, the loss of sight is a major obstacle in the way of growth and development on a personal and professional level. Hence, we decided to launch our first activity in "Al Manal" to support the humanitarian programs of the Noor Dubai Foundation, as the provision of necessary medical care to those who are in dire need is a priority humanitarian duty. UAE was, and continue to be the forerunner to humanitarian work under the guidance of the wise leadership." Her Highness also praised the efforts of the Noor Dubai Foundation in providing the necessary treatment for indigent patients, reinforcing hope for recovery and return of sight, asserting that "this effort is one of the finest forms of humanitarian work that requires all the support and backing from us all."

Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid dedicates great interest in humanitarian initiatives, especially those concerned with the basic needs of living such as health and education. HH is one of the most important supporters of Noor Dubai Foundation, which contributed to the treatment of 22 thousand patients of visual disability through 4 camps in Togo, Yemen, Sri Lanka and Pakistan in 2012.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister,  Ruler of Dubai, has named Ramadan 19th, the anniversary of the founding father of the Union, late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the "Emirati Humanitarian Work Day", to be an annual  celebration where the people of UAE celebrate the memory of the founding leader through activities that demonstrate the achievements of the great leader on the human level, as his name always comes with goodness and giving for people around the world.

Coinciding with the "Emirati Humanitarian Work Day", Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, launched "Al Manal Initiative", in order to activate humanitarian work at the local, regional level, and entrench the values ​​of the UAE which enhances the importance of humanitarian work, in addition to rooting values of social solidarity, through which we launch humanitarian projects and programs that reflect the concept of solidarity and togetherness among members of society, and the fostering patriotism and loyalty, as well as promoting a culture of giving and generosity.
