Comedy and non scripted entertainment categories to be judged by tv and PROGRAMmING experts from the middle east & aROUND THE WORLD

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (The Academy) announced today that the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT) and CNBC Arabiya - both members of the Academy, have been selected to host the semi-finals round of the Comedies and Non-Scripted Entertainment categories for the 2004 International Emmy Awards.

The event will take place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August, 2004. Each of the entries will be judged by jurors representing broadcasters from throughout the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Africa.

The preliminary judging round of the International Emmy Awards took place earlier this year when more than 200 judges comprised of television industry experts including producers, directors, executives and distributors judged eight program categories: Drama; Television Movie/Mini-Series; Documentary; Arts Programming; Comedies; Non-Scripted Entertainment; Children & Young People; News Coverage.

Winners of this year's awards will be revealed at the 32nd International Emmy Awards Gala which will take place on November 22, 2004 in New York City.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (the International TV Academy), a division of the National Television Academy, is the largest organization of global broadcasters, with members and representatives from 61 countries and over 250 companies.
