Underscoring efforts to promote innovation amongst engineering students across the Kingdom
Amman, 26 March 2013 - Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) [m1] extended its support to the 2012 Graduation Project Award targeting engineering graduates across Jordanian universities. Launched by the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA), the Award is geared towards encouraging engineering students to produce innovative and creative graduation projects. The Award covers all engineering majors accredited by the JEA, including Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining and Materials Engineering, and Chemical Engineering. This step corresponds with CEGCO's goal to actively contribute to supporting the education sector, particularly university students.
Held under the patronage of HRH Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, at the Professional Associations Complex. As part of its support, CEGCO offered two JD 1,000 first place prizes and two JD 750 second place prizes to the top four Electrical and Mechanical Engineering graduation projects. At the conclusion of the Award ceremony, CEGCO's Executive Manager of Asset Management received - on behalf of the Company's CEO Eng. Omar Al-Daour - a plaque in recognition of CEGCO's support to the JEA's 2012 Graduation Project Award.
As part of its support, CEGCO aims to encourage engineering students in Jordanian universities to unleash their creative talents. It also seeks to promote healthy competition amongst students, subsequently bringing forth distinguished engineering projects that will have a positive impact on the community once they are implemented.
