Revamp of Products in Motion to GO and GO+

Cairo, Egypt – Careem, the region’s leading app-based car booking service, today announced the revamping of its product offerings to further reinforce its customer-centric brand positioning as the safest, most affordable, highest quality mobility solution. The introduction of GO and GO+ aligns with Careem’s in-depth understanding of the local markets’ needs and the mission to simplify the lives of people. The shift of product will also grow the supply of cars and provide tens of thousands additional jobs in Egypt despite the current economic constraints.

Introducing GO and GO+ will allow Careem to scale up its range of cars by introducing tens of new car models and expanding its existing fleet even further. This will lead to increased car availability and shorter estimated times of arrival (ETA) to meet the customer’s growing needs and maintain the safest, most affordable and highest quality. Careem’s revamped new product offerings will be standardized across all the cities of the company’s network globally.

GO will provide a highly accessible, affordable service with a large variety of cars and sizes. While GO+ will offer customers a better in- ride experience with newer, higher quality cars. White and water taxi service remain as is and separate from the GO brand.

Careem has stringent rules when it comes to hiring new Captains and growing its fleet. Both Captains and cars undergo a set of checks and tests to ensure superior quality at all times. Every car that joins the Careem fleet goes through a comprehensive car check prior to its start, where engine, breaks, body and interior are qualified in order to join the fleet. Captains must be presentable, hold a driver's license, a national ID number, submit a criminal record certificate and undergo a drug test. In addition, Careem provides all new Captains with full training on the app and customer service in order to pass the required exam before engaging with customers.

Careem aims to provide reliable, safe, convenient, and affordable means of transport for everyone every day. In just four years since its inception in 2012, Careem has launched its service in more than 50 cities globally, delivering tens of millions of rides with an ever-increasing fleet operated by 150,000+ Captains in the region, 50,000 of which are based in Egypt, creating job opportunities for thousands of Egyptians and providing them with an alternative and flexible means of income.
