Canon Middle East launches new large format range for the CAD and general use markets

New devices produce sharp, accurate images at high speed with revolutionary new five-colour reactive ink system

Dubai, UAE, 27th February, 2007- Canon Middle East, world leader in digital imaging technology, has today launched three new additions to its large format printer (LFP) range. The imagePROGRAF iPF700, imagePROGRAF iPF600 and imagePROGRAF iPF500 with flexible print widths of 36", 24" (A1) and 17" (A2) respectively, have been specifically designed for the CAD and general use markets.  Using a range of industry-leading technologies, including a revolutionary five-colour reactive ink system, the new printers are further testament to Canon's drive to become a major force in this sector.

The five-colour reactive ink system enhances the quality of prints by ensuring that there is less bleeding and solid image consistency, therefore delivering output that retains more accuracy and sharpness - however detailed.  Moreover, the printers now have two types of black ink - photo black and matte black (MBK) - which extends the range of media that each device can print onto, including glossy and matte paper.  Additionally, with two matte black channels, ink capacity has doubled and speed has been increased due to the enlarged swathe.  This means that productivity has escalated dramatically whilst maintaining the quality and consistency of the black ink at high speed - critical in CAD applications where speed and accuracy are paramount.

Another key feature of each of the three devices is the new high-density 1" print head that increases the speed of printing and improves durability.  The print head packs in over 15,000 nozzles, which increases the accuracy of the device, as well as the consistency of the output.  It also integrates FINE technology and 4-pl (picolitre) ink droplets that ensure smooth colour shading, high-definition expression, accuracy and image sharpness.  This means that 1200dpi rendering reproduces fine lines and small characters without distortion.

Audai Altai, Solutions Product Manager, Canon Middle East, says: "The launch of this range underlines our commitment to the professional CAD and GIS markets, whilst providing our customers with a flexible print offering in the new general use market.  We have listened to the needs of our customers and are responding to the industry requirement for accurate, detailed prints at high speed.  These devices also highlight our strengthened presence in this space, and by producing devices that are cost-effective and robust, it is easy to see the benefits and return on investment that these LFP devices bring to business."

All of the new large format printers come with Canon's PosterArtist and the new imagePROGRAF printer driver as standard, as well as an HDI driver for use with AutoCAD.  They can all be configured to an existing network and have been designed to ensure ease-of-use and effective print management.
