RTA and BurJuman officially rename Khalid Bin Al Waleed Station to BurJuman Station under the Dubai Metro "Naming Rights Initiative"

Dubai, UAE December 14, 2012

Visitors to BurJuman using the Dubai Metro will now alight at the newly-named "BurJuman Station" when they next visit the landmark retail destination in the heart of Dubai.

The former Khalid Bin Al Waleed Station was officially renamed BurJuman Station on December 12th during a special ceremony attended by Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Majid Al Ghurair, President of BurJuman and Eisa Adam Ibrahim, GM of BurJuman. A permanent plaque declaring the station's new name was unveiled during the ceremony amidst live entertainment staged for the enjoyment of morning commuters.

The BurJuman station is one of the largest stations within the Dubai Metro network, lying at an intersection of both the Red and Green Lines and enjoying high commuter traffic all day long from different parts of the city. The station offers visitors a close and convenient link to BurJuman. As an important landmark in the Bur Dubai area, most visitors to the mall and to the immediate area already associate it with BurJuman due to its location. The renaming of the Khalid Bin Al Waleed Station to the BurJuman station will formalize a name that is popularly used.

The rebranding, which took place under the Dubai Metro "Naming Rights Initiative", is part of BurJuman's ongoing commitment to support and partner the vision of the government and its agencies to make Dubai a model city in every sphere, one in which both residents and visitors enjoy a high quality of life and service.
