30 October 2010, Muscat: Budget Rent-a-Car has taken delivery of a fleet of GMC Yukon and Yukon XL in addition to the GMC Terrains purchased earlier in year.

"We have opted for GMC vehicles as it offers true value for money along with features that enhance the comfort and safety of our customers. To have service intervals of 10,000 kms was an added advantage," said Mr. Shabbir Boxwalla, General Manager, Budget Rent-a-Car.

The Yukon and Yukon XL are based on GM's well-known, full-size SUV platform that has distinctive feature styling, spacious and refined interiors, exceptional driving characteristics and segment-leading safety features.

The Yukon rides on a 2,946 mm wheelbase, with an overall length of 5,130 mm. It is designed with a wider track that, along with the long wheelbase, provides a smooth drive.

At the same time, the Yukon XL has lateral exterior dimensions similar to its shorter-wheelbase equivalent, but is 355 mm longer in wheelbase - 508 mm longer in overall length.

The 5.3-litre V8 SFI engine variant generates 310 hp (net) at 5,200 rpm and 454 Nm (net) of torque at 4,400. The Yukon is now attached to a standard, fuel-saving, Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control and electronic overdrive. This gearbox is designed to enhance fuel economy on the highway through reduced engine speed, lowering the amount of fuel needed at lower cruising speeds. In addition, it contributes to enhance interior quietness.

The models are equipped with the new six-speed automatic transmission, a heavy-duty trailering package that enhances cooling capacity and a heavy-duty, 3.42 rear axle to deliver maximum towing capability.

A third-row seat is standard on all Yukon models that also offer an industry-exclusive power fold-and-tumble second-row seat feature easing access to third-row seats.

The Yukon and Yukon XL are designed to be among the industry's safest and most secure vehicles with a 360-degree perimeter safety system of occupant protection and crash avoidance technologies. Standard features include head-curtain side air bags for all seating rows and front-seat safety belt pretensioners that are linked to the vehicle's sensing system to provide segment-exclusive deployment in rear-end crashes. These features are integrated into a stronger vehicle structure that is also designed for improved compatibility with other vehicles in two car collisions.

The head curtain air bags include design features that provide increased roll-over protection and occupant containment. Sensors located at the front of the vehicle, in the side doors and within the occupant compartment provide increased and more immediate crash detection. The vehicle's sensing system deploys front-seat safety belt pretensioners during certain rear-end collisions, enhancing the belt system's ability to hold the occupants firmly in place.
