Hometech Dubai sees the Middle East launch of 'intelligent' washing machines
Gone are the days when doing the laundry meant wasting an afternoon in the corner of a basement tackling set-in stains and washing machine settings.
Bosch, the European leader in domestic appliances, today (13/05/07) held its Middle East launch of the future of washing machines at the Hometech exhibition at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre (DIECC).
The German giant's new washing machine range claims to 'intelligently' remove stains as the first washing machines with the Antistain-Automatic innovation.
This worldwide innovation removes 14 types of difficult but common stains without the need for a special detergent or additional chemicals. Users merely load their clothes, select the appropriate setting and watch as the machine tackles the problem stains.
Four key elements are automatically controlled to remove the stains, including mechanical force, water and detergent, temperature and time. Through the intelligent combination and application of these elements, the specific washing process is chosen for the requirements of each stain.
Whether it is grass from a football match or tomato sauce from a dinner party, each stain is unique and requires individual attention. Humans have always treated individual stains accordingly, but now a washing machine also knows how to deal with the differences. Varying water temperature, longer or shorter washing cycles and more or less intensive drum rotation, combines to tackle the 14 types of stains.
Heiko Fischer, Bosch's managing director Middle East, said: "This new range will be the ultimate in efficiency for any modern kitchen. Our research team has been working hard on this range for years now and we are proud to launch it upon the growing Middle East market, where we are sure it will be a huge success.
"Where the range is technologically advanced, it is even more environmentally friendly than previous machines, and remains as durable and as simple to use as any Bosch product.
"The benefits include best stain elimination results due to stain-specific washing processes that work with regular detergents and without pre-treatment, which has the added environmental benefits. There's also maximum textile protection due to no excessive use of chemicals or mechanical force and a simple menu selection of stains.
"Buyers of the product will enjoy the convenience of hitting the grass button to deal with their child's football kit, or the tomato setting for a stain after a messy dinner party. We at Bosch are truly proud of this innovative and simple range of advanced washing machines."
A recent study by SENSUS revealed that 54% of people prefer a washing machine capacity of more than 6kg, which the new machine range offers, with the largest drum (65 litres) in under counter dimensions (84.2 x 60x 59cm) in the extensive Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances range, meaning bigger loads can be washed less frequently. This also allows for bulky items to be washed, such as blankets, bedspreads, curtains and carpets. There is an added benefit of more space causing fewer wrinkles, while the machine can still be placed neatly into kitchen furniture. The VarioSoft drum also has a dual purpose as it is designed to gently rubs stains with its unique surface structure.
A new 3D Sensor measures the weight of the laundry in the drum, which according to a recent SENSUS survey, 70 per cent of customers saw as a very good (31%) or good (39%) idea. The data is processed to the display as scale and dosage recommendations giving precise information about how much more laundry can be put in. The technology prevents overloading and means no more under or overdosing of detergents. The sensor also provides an advanced balance system with benefits of less noise, vibrations and damage to the machine.
Bosch's new washing machine range is also compatible with Bosch's new Tower Solution Intelligent Stacking Kit, where the dryer can be safely placed on top of the washing machine. This efficient space-saving solution provides all the benefits of using a full-size Bosch washing machine and dryer while providing more space in the home.
A new 'super15' minute washing program is the fastest quick wash program in the world. The setting cleans or refreshes your laundry in only 15 minutes using the usual main, rinse and spin cycles, which is a time and energy efficient way to deal with lightly soiled laundry.
Hometech is the Middle East's Trade Fair and Conference for Consumer Electronics, Home Appliances & Home Automation Systems and runs from May 13-15, 2007, at DIECC.

Notes to Editors:
- 14 Stains tackled: Baby food; grass; blood; cosmetics; oil and butter; red wine; tea; tomato; egg; coffee; socks; sweat; soil and sand; chocolate.
- Customers can also benefit from Bosch's trademark durability as all machines are thoroughly tested during production for safety, function and noise. Door hinges and metal door catches are tested to open a minimum of 20,000 times, equal to 48 years use, and one door was tested for up to 60,000. The washing machines have been continuously on test in the Bosch factory 24 hours a day on 60°C cotton programme at maximum spin for up to 2,500 washes - that's equivalent to twelve years usage. Also, 98% of all components in this range of washing machines are recyclable.
- The 3D Sensor detects unbalances at an early stage and through sophisticated algorithms actions effective counteractions to ensure smooth spinning with low noise and actual achievement of the maximum spin speed.
