NEW OPEN AIR CINEMA AT AL SEEF STREET - DSF SPECIAL
Film buffs are in for a treat during DSF 2003, when they have an opportunity to view some of their favourite movies during the 32 days of the Festival. ‘Bollywood 2 Hollywood’ which runs from January 16 to February 15 promises to bring a bonanza of blockbusters with an excellent mix of good quality English, Arabic and Hindi movies, covering several genres and all decades.
Conveniently located in the open ground opposite the Saudi Consulate – next to the Bur Dubai Creek, the theatre is being set up to host 2,000 people each for the two shows.
Ibrahim Abdul Rahim, Events and Projects Director, Dubai Shopping Festival said, “Open air cinemas have a very special charm as it provides a relaxed social occasion to interact with friends and families and the magic of the movies touches one and all. Introducing this new concept to the DSF entertainment calendar will give our visitors another option for a wonderful family outing together. Moreover, these popular movies can rarely be seen on the large screen in the theatres located here.”
He added, “We have conducted similar events previously and the response has been tremendous. The selection of movies to be screened during DSF 2003, is guaranteed to draw committed movie buffs time and again to watch their favourite stars in action.”
Two hit films will be screened everyday. Hindi movies will be screened daily, but Arabic and English movies will be screened every second day.
The first show, which will screen a Hindi blockbuster will start at 18.30 hrs followed by an English or Arabic film very alternate day at 22.30 hrs. The organisers have put together a list of 30 Hindi films, which have drawn crowds at the box office. The 20 English and Arabic titles are a mix of action and comedy suitable for the young and old alike.
Tickets for the show are priced at Dhs 10 and will be available from January 1, 2003 at selected outlets. The tickets will also be available at the venue from the day of the show.
The Cinema will have all conventional facilities like a car park area for 300 cars, provision for snack bars, and an attractive Children’s Play area with jumping castles etc to give the parents additional convenience.
The titles being shown will include popular hits like Gladiator, Sholay, Lagaan, Titanic, Oceans Eleven, Amir Al Ohalam etc.
