Dubai, July 31, 2004 - An overjoyed Javaid Ahmed Ghulam Rasool, winner of the DSS Grand Summer Raffle, will bring his family more often to Dubai, as his win will give him the financial liquidity to afford their travel. Bearer of coupon no. 3864, Javaid, a Pakistani national, has been living  in Dubai since 1976.

"I have always bought raffle coupons, as I have thought I might become lucky finally," Javaid said after his ticket was drawn on Friday night. "The money that I get from selling the cars will be useful for educating my children. If you have to win, you will win as in my case."

Javaid, who works in DUBAL as a Desalination Operator, said he bought his coupon on impulse from an Emarat petrol station just one day before the draw. The father of four - three sons and a daughter - said he might consider starting a small business with some of the funds from the raffle winnings.

The raffle, the-first-of-its-kind promotion, is being organised by the Dubai Summer Surprises Office in association with Arabian Gulf Mechanical Centre (AGMC), the exclusive importer of BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, and Emarat. Grand Summer Raffle coupons are available at 33 Emarat stations in Dubai, in addition to Deira City Centre, Baniyas Street, Al Fahidi Street and the Gold Souq.

The promotion comprises 20 BMW cars and a cash prize of Dh1 million. As part of the promotion, every winner will walk away with a BMW X3, a BMW 520i and Dh100,000 in cash bringing the total value of the prize money to Dh450,000. Dubai Business Channel telecasts the proceedings live during the 'Grand Summer Raffle' draws on Friday at 9pm.

Dubai Summer Surprises 2004 is currently in the Adventure Surprises week organised by Dubai Police from July 29-August 4 followed by Knowledge Surprises by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry from August 5-11, Back-2-School Surprises by the Department of Economic Development from August 12-18 and ends with the Colour Surprises by the Department of Health and Medical Sciences from August 19-27, 2004.
