March 23, 2010, UAE: BITS, Pilani-Dubai, UAE's premier engineering institution, today announced the signing of International Collaboration agreement with Canada's highly reputed University of Windsor (UoW).

The multi-level Memorandum of Understanding comprises of five key areas of co-operation. The collaboration highlights short and long-term faculty exchange programs, under-graduate and post-graduate student exchange program that includes dual program for under-graduate students, collaborative research and discovery, learning, teaching and engagement. Students who successfully complete their under-graduate program at BITS Pilani - Dubai will become eligible to pursue post-graduate courses in the international University of Windsor on preferential basis including consideration for financial assistance or scholarships for qualifying students. 

BITS, Pilani-Dubai is the branch campus of the internationally reputed BITS, Pilani - India. The institution was set-up in Dubai in the year 2000 in association with the ETA Ascon Star Group. Since inception, nearly 1000 students have graduated from the institution successfully pursuing their academic and career goals worldwide.

Commenting on the MoU Prof. Dr. M. Ramachandran, Director of BITS, Pilani-Dubai, said: "We are delighted to enter into partnership with UoW, one of the most reputed and oldest  universities of Canada. Through this partnership our students will have the opportunity to tap into exchange programs, undertake world-class research, have preference in admission to UoW programs. Besides, students will be eligible for financial assistance and scholarships which is one of the most important aspects of higher studies."

Prof. Neil Gold, Vice President, International, University of Windsor, Canada said: "We at UoW are very pleased by this MoU. The very fact that I have come all the way from Canada for signing this is a testament to our desire for consolidating this partnership and is also the proof of our recognition of  the quality education being provided by BPD. Through this MoU the synergy possibilities existing between the two Institutions will be harvested." 

Salient features of BPD:

BPD offers degree programmes in engineering and other technical fields at the undergraduate level in eight different specializations and four at the post-graduate level. The B.E(Hons.) programs includes the option of 7 ½ months internship in the industry. 361 reputed companies such as ABB, Acer, Bosch, Citi Bank, Fedex, GE, 3i Infotech, Honeywell, Petrofac, , SIEMENS, TCS etc offer internship programs to these students. Several of these companies are also prominent during the campus placement for BPD.

BPD graduates have obtained admissions for Masters programmes and PhD in nearly 50 reputed Universities abroad such as Stanford, Cornell, Purdue, University of Pennsylvania, University of Illinois, University of Toronto, etc. The rest are employed in more than 300 leading companies in UAE & abroad such as Microsoft, Oracle, Sony Ericsson, Infosys, Wipro, Mott McDonald, Etisalat, Dell, Toshiba, Larsen and Toubro, KPMG, Halliburton etc. 

BPD is the only technological university in the Middle East attracting a large number of brilliant students from UAE and 22 other countries such as India, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, South Africa, Nigeria, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Canada.

In the recent past, BPD has entered into collaboration with 9 reputed Universities such as Purdue University (USA) University at Buffalo (USA), IOWA State University (USA), Kansas State University (USA) George Mason University (USA), University of Maryland (USA) York University (Canada)  International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (UAE) and Al-Ain University of Science and Technology (UAE).
