The Bahrain Financial Exchange (BFX), the Multi-Asset exchange in the MENA region, which will be internationally accessible to trade cash instruments, derivatives, structured products and shariah-compliant financial instruments, announced today its sponsorship of the Derivatives World Middle East conference as the Strategic Exchange Partner, which was held in Dubai.
Mr. Craig Hewett, Chief Business Officer at the BFX, was a key speaker at the conference where he discussed the importance of the "Derivatives products for the Islamic finance market" and the demand for effective hedging instruments in Islamic finance.
He also discussed the launch of new listed derivatives markets in the Middle East and that education is essential for market participants to restore confidence in the on exchange derivatives market place.
In both listed and OTC markets, there is a need for product development and innovation to cater for the unique demands of this region. Regulators are steadily introducing changes that open the Middle Eastern derivatives market to a wider range of investors and expanding the products permitted for trade.
FOW's Derivatives World Middle East is now in its third year bringing together the key existing and potential new players in the Middle Eastern derivatives market, and aiming to support derivatives markets development in the region.
