ABU DHABI, UAE: BAE Systems' LEMUR30 remote weapon system is on show at NAVDEX on the exciting WP-18 high speed tactical strike craft, which is being launched in the region for the first time by Abu Dhabi Mar.
The versatile, stealth assault and special operations vessel, WP-18, can be used for a wide range of operations, including rapid strike missions and intelligence gathering. The 18.6m craft has a patented hull form for high speed operations in rough seas, and its low radar cross section, low infra-red signature, plus low-observable outline make it highly stealthy.
LEMUR30 is a fully stabilised weapon system with independent line of sight. It is operated from inside the craft using a colour display and a control handle. Like the WP-18, its modular design makes it configurable for a wide range of roles. Despite its compact size, LEMUR30 can handle a number of different calibres both for single and dual weapon applications within the same basic platform. On the WP-18, the LEMUR30 together with all external systems are retractable to maintain maximum stealth.
Andrew Lea, , Abu Dhabi Mar, commented: "The WP-18 establishes itself as a unique platform having evolved from first hand military partnerships, modern tactical specifications, and years of high speed data acquisition and analysis".
WP-18 and LEMUR30 will be on display at the Abu Dhabi Mar stand at NAVDEX (C-003, N-OD). Another example of LEMUR30 will be at BAE Systems' IDEX, stand number 05-C25.
