DED ties up with Commercial Bank of Dubai to organise daily event

Dubai, Aug 03, 2004: The Back-2-School Surprises committee at the Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that it had tied up with Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) to organise a drawing competition for children. The competition will be for children aged 4 to 12 during the Back-2-School Surprises week, which is scheduled to be held from August 12 to 18, 2004.

"Promoting children's creativity while at the same time gearing them up for the re-opening of schools in early September is one of the objectives of the 'Back to School' surprises," said Dabhya Al Suwaidi, Head of Back-2-School Surprises Committee at DED. "The drawing competition which combines the elements of fun and discipline will give children a taste of the school days to come in an enjoyable manner. This competition will also direct children to focusing on their future and then planning towards the fulfillment of their dreams," she added.

The drawing competition will be conducted every evening during the Back-2-School Surprises at Modhesh City, Burjuman Centre and Al Ghurair Centre. Competition entries will be judged by a select jury of well known artists from the Emirates Arts Society and prizes will be announced a week from the completion of the event. Prizes of "Mustaqbali" Account worth AED3000, AED2000 and AED1000 will be presented to the first three winners while nine contestants will also receive "Mustaqbali" Account worth AED500 each.

"The Commercial Bank of Dubai has always looked for opportunities to promote the savings habit especially among young children," said Faisal Galadari, AGM - Retail & Commercial "The theme of this competition 'Dream your future and draw it' is also based on one of our premium Children's Saving Plan products, entitled 'Mustaqbali' (My future)," he added.

Mustaqbali is a flexible child savings plan from CBD, which enables parents to individually determine their target savings amount and mode of payment. It guarantees the capital amount throughout the tenure of the plan and offers a guaranteed return of 3per cent after five years. Mustaqbali also offers optional life cover for the parent during the Plan Term at a minimum premium and offers children a chance to win one of 12 scholarships at AED10, 000.

Commercial Bank of Dubai also plans to hold a fun day for children during the Back-2-School' surprises week, when Modhesh is expected to visit the CBD's Main Branch near Deira City Centre.
