Registration begins by mid-June 2004, toddlers set to take centre stage

The Dubai Summer Surprises Office has unveiled details about the Baby Olympics, wherein children in the age-group of six months to three years compete, showcasing their skills in crawling, walking and tricycle races.

Maryam Arhama, Sponsors Events Coordinator, DSS, said the Baby Olympics will again take centre stage for the second year, from July 31 to August 4, following its tremendous success during DSS 2003.

“Nothing sparks your emotions more than seeing your child take his first steps in life, amidst the cheers, joy and clapping. It is an assured feeling a parent gets when their child participates in the Baby Olympics, one of the many events that are being hosted under the DSS 2004 schedule of innovative activities. Parents can stand at the finish line and encourage their children to crawl or totter towards them. This is a fun event and every participant is a sure winner,” said Maryam.

She pointed out that the Baby Olympics will involve various contests, which include the Baby Crawling Contest, to be held on July 31, involving kids in the age-group of 6 to 8 months, while the Baby Walker Contest on August 1 will involve 8-12 month- old kids.

Kids in the age-group of 12-18 months can take part in the Toddlers Walking Contest on August 2, while those who are three years old will be eligible to participate in the Dress Up Baby Contest on August 3. The Tricycle Race Contest on August 4 will also involve three-year-olds.

Maryam added all the competitions will be organised in Al Ghurair City. The children will be divided into five groups, with each group comprising 10 kids. There will be two winners in each group. Among the 10 winners drawn out of the five groups, the top three will walk away with the prizes.

She said that valuable prizes are up for grabs, including gift vouchers, gift hampers packed with baby goodies. The prizes have been sponsored by Mother Care, Baby Shop and Bear Factory.
