Sharjah, Sunday, March 4, 2012-- American University of Sharjah (AUS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yildiz Technical University from Istanbul, Turkey, today, March 4, 2012.
The purpose of the MoU is to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration between the two universities on a non-exclusive basis, in areas of mutual interest in the United Arab Emirates. As part of the agreement, the universities will conduct joint research projects and have an exchange of research and teaching staff, students, scientific publications and other materials for research and educational purposes.
AUS and Yildiz Technical University will also collaborate on ongoing research projects utilizing the other's research facilities and staff.
The MoU was signed by AUS Chancellor Dr. Peter Heath and Ismail Yuksek, Rector, Yildiz Technical University. Present at the signing ceremony was Her Excellency Elif Ulgen, Consul General in Dubai.
"Your university has a vast amount of resources and research. We, at AUS, look forward to this mutually beneficial collaboration between our universities," said Dr. Heath.
In his remarks, Yuksek said, "We would like to share our knowledge and research with AUS and enrich cooperation between our universities."
Present at the signing were also Dr. Thomas Hochstettler, Provost; Salem Al Qaseer, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs; Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs; as well as vice provosts, deans and faculty members.
Representatives from also included Dean Mustafa Bayram of the Yildiz Technical University Inci Acar, Vice Consul; and Sedat Gonulluoglu, Cultural Attache from the Turkish Consulate in Dubai and other senior officials of Yildiz Technical University .
