Maintaining their valuable support to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) for its Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) initiatives, a number of private sector organizations have lined up a variety of programmes at five of Dubai's most-popular shopping malls as part of the Food Surprises theme week running until July 12. 

The shopping malls which are the venues of over 300 activities to be conducted during the week with the help of 600 chefs and others are: Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, Mercato, BurJuman, and Deira City Centre.

DTCM Manager Events and Chairman of Food Surprises Committee, Mr. Marwan bin Beyat, said: "The partnership between the DTCM and private sector organizations, especially hotels, shopping malls and the Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) has remained fruitful and inspiring. Everyone shares the same vision of providing the best to the Dubai residents and visitors by organizing attractive activities during the theme week."

The combined budget of Food Surprises theme week, with contributions from DTCM and its sponsors and support partners, is close to AED 5million.

Braun, Better Life and Siemens joined the DTCM as sponsors for the Food Surprises in addition to the long-time partners - Jumeirah, Emirates Culinary Guild, Intercontinental Hotel Dubai, Bab Al Shams, Nestle, Abela and Paris Gallery.

Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG), Bab Al Shams resort and Jumeirah are jointly preparing a huge cake at the Mall of the Emirates  on July 9th for a charitable cause.

More than 600 chefs are going to be involved in the project. About 30,000   pieces of cake will be sold with the proceeds going to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable Establishment.

Nestle will create a Golden City at the Mall of the Emirates on July 7th in addition to organising live cooking stations and selling of chocolate bags for charity.

Abela and Company will be organising programmes for children, including Junior Chef Competition and cooking sessions for women for shushi and other dishes as part of its participation in the Food Surprises.

Paris Gallery will present 21 giveaways.

Better Life (Eisa Saleh Al Gurg Group) has extended support to bring European cuisines at the Mall of the Emirates on July 8th at 6 pm in addition to daily cooking competitions.  Braun is organising healthy food competitions at the Deira City Centre on July 11 between 6 pm to 10 pm and at the Ibn Battuta mall on July 12 from 5 pm and 8 pm.

During the week, Cinnabon will conduct ice cream-related programmes daily at the Mall of the Emirates from 5 pm to 10 pm. Dunkin Donuts and Intraflora will provide dates and giveaways to the public. 

Kempinski Mall of the Emirates will be offering three nights stay voucher to a winner while London Crown hotel will also provide free stay voucher to a winner. Chillies will provide free lunch and dinner vouchers to the winners in addition to prizes from Iffco and Seezam restaurant at the Kempinski Mall of the Emirates hotel.

A total of 10,000 gifts and giveaways are up for the grabs during the week-long programmes at five shopping malls.
