In recognition of its efforts in serving the people of Iraq

February 2011 - Amongst the many acknowledgements it has received from various institutions and local entities, Asiacell - the first and largest Iraqi telecommunications company and the only mobile telecom company providing coverage for all of Iraq - recently received a letter of gratitude from the General Secretary of the Holy Shrine of Imam Ali, Mr. Mahdi Al-Husseini, in appreciation of the company's efforts during the forty-day visit to Imam Husain (Peace Be Upon Him) in the city of Karbala.

Asiacell provided free-of-charge call services to the visitors of Karbala hailing from various regions within Iraq as well as from outside of the country. The company set up a free call center, enabling the visitors to the grave of Ali Bin Abi Taleb (Peace Be Upon Him) to stay in touch with their families and relatives. Asiacell also provided meals to the pilgrims of the Holy Shrine.  

Commenting on the gesture, Dr. Diar Ahmed, CEO at Asiacell, stressed the company's interest in activating its role within the community during various religious occasions. He stated, "We at Asiacell are eager to engage with all parts of the Iraqi nation and we are pleased to be a part of all the celebrations in Iraq.  We strive to do our best to showcase Iraq as an organized country whose people stand united during these occasions." He added, "We would like to renew our commitment towards our clients and local community as a whole, whereas we shall not hesitate to service them to the best of our abilities in an effort to positively contribute to our beloved country's economic and social prosperity."

In turn, Mr. Al-Husseini affirmed in the letter Asiacell's effective role in making the forty-day visit to Imam Husain's Shrine a success thanks to its active role during the occasion, underscoring the extent of the company's involvement in local events.
