The German Healthcare Group e. V. (GHE) has been present at the Arab Health (AH) with their own group stand for 25 years. In that time the significance of the AH in the international medical market has grown rapidly. Again the AH ended with a new record number of registered visitors: 4954 exhibitors from 163 countries and round about 130.000 competent decision makers from hospitals and clinics as well as doctors, healthcare experts and bio medical engineers/technicians visited the exhibition and conferences.
The AH offers GHE members access to potential customers, not only from the Middle East but also surrounding countries as well as providing opportunities to learn and exchange ideas on themes all around medical equipment technology, market access and penetration.
This was emphasised by Ron Singer, Member of the Board, after attending this year's AH.
Read his personal assessment of the AH and the development of the market in the Middle East in detail:
International significance of the AH: "In my opinion the importance is rising, at least, at the same rate as the MEDICA and may even find itself in the overtaking lane. This quite simply is due to the growing demand in the region, also considering the convenient and advantageous access to the AH in Dubai for many visitors. Additionally the AH continues to impress and endeavors to meet the ever increasing international demands along with its oriental flair."
Meaning of the AH for the GHE Members: "In Dubai our member companies have firsthand access to all business aspects which is essential for their particular branch of the export market. Here in Dubai they can obtain advance information about up-coming or planned tenders, projects or other procurement programmes."
Visitors to the AH: "The majority of visitors are either doctors, healthcare experts or bio medical engineers/technicians, many of whom are looking for new and innovative products to enhance or complement work flow procedures. For this the AH serves as an ideal platform to acquire information about the latest developments in medical technology and, in case they themselves are not the final decision makers, to convince their procurement officers accordingly."
The GHE exhibition concept at the AH: "Traditionally there is a very strong presence of the GHE member companies at the AH. Round about 80 % our members come to Dubai every year and 17 of these have exhibited this year on the GHE stand."
Future development in the region: "Basically I see a continuing positive trend despite the current oil price situation which will no doubt influence healthcare budgets to a certain extent. This however will hopefully not have a long lasting effect. The lifting of sanctions for exports to Iran will surely serve to offset this situation even if this will still take some time to fully develop."
What's in store for the journey around the world?: "If only I knew.....considering the demographic changes going on and the increasing life expectancy of the population it has become a necessity to re-think current structures. The optimisation of time consuming and costly procedures in hospitals and clinics must continue in order to fight the ever rising healthcare costs. By implementing newest technology and processing quality materials and designing simple to operate equipment good results can be achieved in work flow optimized procedures. With this philosophy I believe our member companies are on the right road and will give them an advantage in this, in the meantime, very competitive market."
