Superstar Diab & Broadway sensations the TAP DOGS set to play Dubai Creek Park

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - 28 November 2004 - Audiences across the Gulf will race in to see Arab music phenomenon Amr Diab and Broadway sensations the TAP DOGS play Chevrolet Live, a major four day musical and motoring spectacular to be held at the Dubai Creek Park from 13 - 16 December 2004.

"We are very excited to be hosting a celebrity the calibre of Amr Diab," said Gerry Groenewegen, Regional Marketing Manager for Chevrolet.  "Diab will open Chevrolet Live to an expected crowd of up to 10,000 people.  The TAP DOGS, who will showcase their high energy rhythmic and percussive dance performance on the following three nights are also sure to wow audiences with the sheer force and vibrancy of their act."

In addition to watching Diab and the TAP DOGS perform live, families and groups of friends can enjoy the Picnic in the Park area of Chevrolet Live, where children will be entertained by acrobats and face painters while grown ups relax in the beautiful surroundings of the park.  Just nearby, motoring enthusiasts of all sizes will enjoy watching the UAE's best duke it out for the Corvette Cup at the model car race track.

Automotive enthusiasts will be offered a rare glimpse of five of Chevrolet's advanced one-of-a-kind concept vehicles  their first visit to the Middle East - as well as the unbeatable 2005 line-up of Chevrolet cars and trucks available across the Middle East.  Chevrolet Live will also feature the Middle East's first 360 Audio Visual experience, a seamless  journey through the Chevrolet brand DNA in a custom-built environment, enjoy live demos of the Chevrolet range and compete to win a Chevrolet of their own.

"Driving should be all about enjoyment, which is why we decided to build an event of this nature - why not combine an outing with family or friends with a concert and an auto show in one?" asked Groenewegen.  "Chevrolet's heritage in the Middle East stretches back almost five decades.  Our vehicles are specifically manufactured for the region and we have an unbeatable line up of cars and trucks - one that goes unmated by any other brand for depth and breadth.  We felt that Chevrolet Live would be the best way to share our enthusiasm and belief in the nameplate."

Chevrolet Live will run from 13 - 16 December at Dubai Creek Park between 4pm and 11pm.

Amr Diab - the superstar of the Arab world

Amr Diab is a superstar of epic proportions throughout the Arab world and beyond: with a career spanning over two decades, he continues to set the standard for Arab music sales around the world.  Over the course of his prolific recording career, Diab has released over 16 top selling albums, has toured extensively throughout the Arab region and has performed in countries as far flung as Australia, Canada, Europe & the USA.

The English version of the title track off his 1996 album, "Habibe", was an international phenomenon, going triple platinum and becoming a massive crossover hit, being remixed by several top European DJs to become a big pull on the dance floors of Europe.  Best known to western audiences recently for his recent co-starring role alongside Britney Spears, Beyonce and Pink in the Gladiator-themed Pepsi commercial, Diab's fan base is increasingly international due to his masterful combination of Western and Arabic rhythms.

TAP DOGS - the hottest show on legs

Since taking the international dance scene by the scruff of the neck at its debut in 1995, TAP DOGS have been taking the world by storm with their unprecedented show that combines the strength and power of male workmen with the precision and talent of tap dancing.

TAP DOGS is the brain child of Australian Dein Perry.  Loosely modeled around Perry's own childhood growing up in a steel town north of Sydney, the card carrying machinist and two-time Olivier Award-winning choreographer has built a rocking dance event based around his experiences in the building trade - and proving once and for all that real men can dance.

For just under 80 minutes, the all-male cast - decked out in their workman's uniform of checked shirts, ripped levis and tap-tipped work boots - stamp, stomp, slip, slide, thrash and bash their way across over their construction site set of wood and sheet metal, struts, ladders and rope hoists.  Humorous and raw, this energy-fuelled showcase of unrelenting tap action performed to a soundtrack of percussion, keyboard and guitar pulls tap dancing kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
