Online site's new look developed and structured to give users everything they need to know in three clicks

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), the leading international trade association for the American hardwood industry, has announced the launch of its redesigned and updated website (www.americanhardwood.org), which is part of the Council's commitment to making a wide range of comprehensible technical guidance and detailed information about American hardwoods easily available. The website's new look has been developed in line with feedback from users and structured to meet the 'three clicks' benchmark - which gives users whatever they need to know in a maximum of three clicks.

Available in Arabic and eight other languages across all AHEC's major world markets, the new website marks a significant investment by the Council to reduce its printed materials and provide download facilities for all its publications - including the 'Species Guide', which was redesigned last year into an 'easy read' format. The new site also includes detailed information by Rupert Oliver, an independent consultant, on sustainability issues, as well as features that encourage dynamic interactions with anyone who works with and seeks to work with hardwoods.

"The revamp of our old website to a brand new, more user-friendly and more informative online platform forms part of our commitment towards providing an easily accessible resource for an extensive range of technical guidance and detailed information about American hardwoods," said Roderick Wiles, AHEC Director for Africa, Middle East, India and Oceania. "We have been successful in integrating our content to become concise yet information-packed, which was a step taken in response to users' feedback and as part of our investment towards enriching this vital communications channel and the reduction of printed materials. We have high hopes that our all-new website will be a favourite among people interested in the latest developments in the U.S. hardwood industry and the growing number of customers using our products."

In addition to providing easily accessible and updated data on American hardwoods, the new design is aimed at making the site more dynamic and to encourage deeper interaction with anyone who works with hardwood. The launch of the new website, which is expected to be 'bookmarked' by users who want to keep updated with all the latest research developments and architectural projects, is also part of AHEC's increased emphasis on direct interaction with the many wood traders, manufacturers and specifiers across the MENA region, and the continuous promotion of the NHLA grading rules.
