HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Alsaud, Chairman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global (Registered in Lebanon), and HH Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, Vice Chairwoman of Alwaleed Foundation, received HE Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and his spouse. Prof. Ihsanoglu was accompanied by Mr. Bilal Sasso, Chief of Protocol.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Walid Arab Hashem, Member of the Shoura Council, H.E Ambassador Alaudeen Alaskary, Chief of Protocol for the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Dr. Ali Alnashwan, Religious Affairs Advisor and Board member of the Foundation, Ms. Nada Al Sugair, Executive Director Finance and Administration and Board member of the Foundation, Ms. Heba Fatani, Senior Executive Manager, Corporate Communications Department (CCD), Dr. Nahla Alanbar, Private Executive Assistant to HRH the Chairman, Ms. Intisar Al-Yamani, Executive Manager, CCD, Ms. Halla Angawi, Executive Manager, International Projects Department and Ms. Samar Alatiqi, Project Manager, CCD.
The meeting began as Prof. Ihsanoglu thanked Prince Alwaleed for giving him the opportunity to meet him. Prof. Ihsanoglu touched upon Prince Alwaleed's various donations and support to OIC Projects such as the Gaza crisis in 2008 and the famine in Somalia in 2011, the donation was made in partnership with the OIC. Moreover, during the meeting Prince Alwaleed and Prof. Ihsanoglu signed a memorandum of understanding between Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and the OIC. Also, Prof. Ihsanoglu toured the Alwaleed Foundation.
Furthermore, Prince Alwaleed hosted a dinner in honor of his guests at Kingdom resort. In response, Prof. Ihsanoglu thanked Prince Alwaleed and commended him on his efforts. Prince Alwaleed said he will continue to support the urgent need for humanitarian assistance through Alwaleed bin Talal Foundation.
The OIC is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations which has a membership of 57 states spread over four continents. The Organization is the collective voice of the Muslim world and ensuring to safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony among various people of the world.
HRH's philanthropic grants and donations over 70 countries ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe; from Gaza to The Gambia, totaling more than $3 billion over the last 30 years. HRH has established three Foundations to handle his philanthropic activities across the globe under the slogan "Commitment Without Boundaries": Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation in Saudi Arabia Alwaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation in Lebanon, and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation-Global registered in Lebanon. His foundations work locally, regionally and internationally to combat poverty, strengthen interfaith and intercultural dialogue and empower women and youth.
