Khalifa Abdullah Hareb, Director of Assets Management Department at Dubai Municipality has stated that the public auction for leasing different types of shops and facilities in newly opened Al Fahidi Traditional Souk will start from Sunday 16 June 2013 instead of the previously announced date 26th May 2013 considering increased demand and to give more time for completing formalities.    

'The auction is open for all fully owned national companies, or companies in which nationals have at least 50% of share in capital. Officials will be available till 5.00 PM in working days in DM centers and Al Fahidi Souk to help visitors get documents and see shops and facilities,' Hareb said.

The auction documents are distributed from the DM headquarters in Deira during the normal working hours or from DM web portal www.dm.gov.ae under DM e-Tendering Management.

'This is one of the most awaited mega projects of civic body in which 100% of green building specifications are strictly applied in sync with international standards and specifications,' he said

'The market at a cost of AED 50.5 million in 27,000 m2 resembles Souq Naif in Deira in terms of its traditional architecture with a combination of ancient and modern spirits of culture and trade. The market allocates specific areas for different types of trade activities  such as food , fabrics, toys, handicraft, traditional products and gold. The projects also aims to promote the small trade activities of the local community which do not require big amount of capital and create new job opportunities. Fahidi Souk is also expected to be one of the highly famed tourist attractions in the country,' Hareb added.

'The Souk located at Al-Souk Al-Kabeer area in Bur-Dubai provides 302 parking in the basement, and includes  232commercial shop on the ground and first floors, 32 booths outdoor and indoor in addition to other public services such as Toilets,  children's play areas and praying rooms,' he explained.  

'It includes modern techniques in order to save the energy and water consumption considerably, where the percentage of energy savings is 50% and the percentage of water savings is 20% compared to conventional systems,' he further said.
