Forum addresses regional human resource, counseling and special needs trends and challenges
ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based university dedicated to high-quality, value-based education, featured its world-class educational programs and counseling methodologies at the 7th Annual Counseling Arabia Conference which started April 7 and ends today (Thursday, April 9, 2009) at the Higher Colleges of Technology's Abu Dhabi Women's College.
Held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Conference gathers professionals, students and other concerned parties to discuss, debate and network with the aim of further enhancing counseling practices throughout the Arab World. This year's edition explores counseling, career development, human resources, academic advising, corporate training, social work, and special needs issues and trends under the theme "Transitions: Evolutions of Client and Practitioner."

The first two days of the Conference included workshops and presentations revolving around the theme and subthemes, while the final day focuses on practitioner-relevant training programs.
Among this year's subthemes were Counseling and Advising Across Different Cultures; Developments in Counseling: Practice, Program and Training; International Models of Best Practices and Systems; Professional Development; Assessment Tools and Techniques for the Gulf Region; Human Resource Issues; Program Developments to Meet Emerging Labor Market Needs; Culturally Appropriate Techniques and Resources to Utilize with Gulf Region Nationals; Gender/Disability/Spirituality/Age Issues and Best Practices in Counseling; Nationalization of the Workforce; Well-Being; and Special Needs - Issues and Challenges.
ALHOSN University offers 18 accredited undergraduate and graduate programs in three faculties, most of which were developed by academicians from prestigious North American universities. The City Campus of ALHOSN includes the Men's Campus, the Women's Campus, Library Building, Lectures Building and the Engineering Labs Building, all located at the heart of Abu Dhabi. A main campus with state-of-the-art facilities designed according to the highest international standards will soon be constructed.
