Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Dubai Municipality is currently undertaking a Dhs185 million project to provide comprehensive drainage and storm-water network for Al Warqa 3, a newly-developed residential area in the emirate, said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of Dubai Municipality.
He noted that the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of next year, forms part of the civic body's plans to link new residential areas with the city's main drainage net-work.
"This project will provide drainage connections to some 2185 houses in Al Warqa 3 area, which is located between Al Awir Road in South, Al Warqa 1 and 2 in West, Mirdif in North and Al Warqa 4 in East. The total area to be served by the project is 636 hectors. Besides, the storm-water network would have a total capacity of 188,000 cubic meters per day," explained Mr Lootah.
The project has been awarded to a private firm of high reputation in the field of infrastructure development and it will be carried out under the supervision of a prominent consultant.
The Drainage and Irrigation Department at Dubai Municipality has urged residents of the area to present any suggestions or remarks in this regard via the Municipality homepage www.dm.gov.ae (Have Your Say) or by calling toll-free 800 900 or by Fax: 04-2214835.
