On 1st of March 2007, Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Multimedia Development Corporation SDN BHD (MDeC), MALAYSIA.
On 1st of March 2007, Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Multimedia Development Corporation SDN BHD (MDeC), MALAYSIA.
The agreement was signed in the JCC's headquarters in Qatar by H.E. Dr. Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, Vice Chairman of board of Al Jazeera Children's Channel, and Mr. Mohd Badlisham Bin Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of MDeC in the presence of senior delegations from both corporations.
The Memorandum of Understanding marks an important step in the relationship between JCC and MDeC. It will result in more opportunities for both corporations to boost the respective local creative content industry through developmental programs, as well as facilitate global market access of their corporations.
'I am pleased to see the attempts and efforts of the past months come to fruition, said H.E. Dr. Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, Vice Chairman of board of Al Jazeera Children's Channel. 'This extended collaboration demonstrates our mutual commitment to pursue common projects and develop business alliances to ensure high standard Television and Media productions", H.E. added.
Mr. Badlisham said the strategic partnership with JCC would benefit the Malaysian content industry as it created opportunities for local players to take up content development work tailor-made to the requirements of JCC in the areas of animation, games, mobile and digital content.
'JCC will provide a valuable channel for MDeC to market our products and services through its influence and market reach', added Mr. Badlisham.
Mr. Badlisham said MDeC would work with JCC to create and promote awareness among the Organization of Islamic Conferences (OIC) member countries on policies and key issues affecting the development of the content industry.
'For the past few months, JCC and MDeC teams have been working closely and studying new ideas. These world class co-productions will boost the position of the Arabic media production industry in the global market', said Mr. Mahmoud Bouneb, Executive General Manager of Al Jazeera Children's Channel.

Al Jazeera Children's Channel (JCC), a Pan Arabic edutainment channel, was launched in September 2005. Through its unique concept and a range of own produced educational programmes, JCC opens up avenues for Arab Children to learn about different environments and cultures, as well as encourage them to learn and seek knowledge.
JCC's extensive range of programmes in Arabic appeals to and educates children aged three to fifteen. JCC produces about 40% of the broadcast programmes, and maintain a low ratio of cartoon slots (13%). JCC is the first Arabic Children's channel to present a debate show where Arab Children can express themselves and communicate their thoughts.
