Al Fahim Group's 'Going Green' drive progresses with Oracle Employee Self Service
First-time implementation Oracle implements Vacancy Creation and Recruitment Requisitions in the Middle East
Abu Dhabi:- As part of Al Fahim Group's going green drive, the Human Resources & Administration Department has announced the rollout of Al Fahim Group's Oracle Employee Self Service to eliminate the use of paper within the organization and optimize investments on technology.
With the aim of reducing waste as well as delivering increased business value, Al Fahim Group's Human Resources & Administration, Information Technology (IT) and Finance Departments worked relentlessly with Sierra Atlantic to achieve a successful implementation. Their efforts resulted in automating major HR & Admin. Department processes targeted to increase customer-focus, process efficiency and contribute to Al Fahim Group's going green drive by eliminating paper wastage.
"Automating our processes and offering staff and management electronic services is a milestone for HR and for the Group as a whole," stated Mr. Salem Al Zubaidi, Group General Manager, HR & Admin. "The benefits of integrating the Oracle system to HR-related services are that it allows for fast approvals, even on handheld devices such as blackberries, and develops a culture of expediency and practicality." In line with the mission of the Group, the HR & Admin Department continually aims to deliver superior services to Al Fahim staff members facilitating all their HR-related correspondences.
The Employee Self Service puts employees in control of managing their personal information and also facilitates access to other information like salary, leave balance, visa, passport, labor card and the like. One of the most significant functionalities provided is Leave of Absence. The system facilitates online leave application and approval/rejection keeping track of where the application is pending. Other useful features such as printing current and previous pay-slips are also available to users should they require a hard copies.
"The Oracle Self Service project has been a great learning experience and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to usher in a new way of doing things in Al Fahim Group. A considerable portion of the solution has been developed by our in-house IT team. With this phase of the project, we have laid down a strong Self Service and core HR foundation which will enable us to build more capabilities in future. Our endeavors will always be towards enabling HR & Admin to achieve excellent people results," stated Mr. Alexious Mulemba, Acting Group IT Manager.
"Al Fahim Group HR & Admin department also raised the need to automate Vacancy Creation and electronic processing of Recruitment Requisitions. "We built an exclusive customized solution for this business need that was suitable to the organization," said Mr. Bhimashankaram Erramilli, Oracle HRMS Consultant of Sierra Atlantic. "This is the first time we've ever implemented this type of functionality in the Middle East; it is not part of the standard Oracle Self Service module."
Introducing this type of technology-enabled capabilities and leveraging of existing technologies (for example, email, BlackBerry and portal) has allowed for a massive reduction in paper wastage in Al Fahim Group as a whole, speedy approvals from managers across all the Group's business units, transparency in all interactions with employees, cut-down in operational costs and data storage for easy future reference.
