MEA logistics firm becomes sole transport provider to Sudan; companies can now move cargo from any Egyptian port to any point in Sudan

Al Abbas Transport (Al Abbas), one of the foremost transport and logistics firms in the region announced today it has obtained the exclusive rights to transport goods to and within Sudan from Egyptian and Sudanese customs authorities.  The announcement marks the first time any transport company has obtained such exclusive transport rights and underscores the company's commitment in providing in demand transport services.

Mr. Mohamed Atta Gad, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Abbas Transport commented by saying, "Obtaining exclusive transport rights marks a critical step in our regional expansion strategy and reflects our commitment to continuously offer important trade routes.  This is an ongoing effort on our part to provide the most seamless logistics process to our customers."

With Al Abbas, companies now only need a single overland transport company to move goods from the point of origin such as ports, factories, or mines to any point in Sudan.  This achieves not only cost savings by using one provider but also speeds the delivery of goods to their destination. Goods can be delivered door to door within 5-7 days on any overland trip, while it takes only 7-10 days for goods to   be transported from any Egyptian port to any Sudanese port.  Cargo safety and accountability are other advantages as goods do not have to be loaded and unloaded multiple times.

With trade expected to double between the two countries in the coming years, Al Abbas' services will help facilitate trade and transport.  This is especially beneficial for Egyptian companies bringing overseas cargo to an Egyptian port and then requiring it to be transported into Sudan.

Already Al Abbas transports a wide range of goods, merchandise, and commodities such as urea, fertilizer and hydralime daily into Sudan.  Now many companies are also taking advantage of Al Abbas' non-stop routes, and directly transporting goods from ports such as Alexandria all the way to Khartoum.

The unprecedented achievement is a follow on to the company's recent landmark inauguration of the new Erqan to Dongola overland route.  The new 362 kilometer road, which opens up unprecedented access to Sudan was also built to encourage trade between the two countries.

"Becoming the exclusive logistics provider to and within Sudan is a continuation of pioneering firsts we have achieved recently.  We are very proud to have achieved such breakthroughs," concluded Atta Gad.

With strong business ties, Al Abbas has been transporting goods into Sudan for over 12 years.  As a foremost transport and logistics company in the region, Al Abbas is adept at transporting primary commodities such as cement, fertilizers, bitumen, food staples, steel, phosphate, chemicals, industrial products, as well as a wide range of consumer goods and merchandise.

Their extensive transport and logistics network covers Egypt, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya and Libya in Africa as well as the UAE in the Middle East.
